Joseph Henry Broadway, 71, of Sour Lake, Texas passed away on September 11, 2011 at his home. He was born March 1, 1940 to Mamie Collins Broadway and O. W. Broadway in Port Arthur, Texas. Joe served as an Infantry Marksman and Honor Guard in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his life in the Port Arthur and Sabine Pass areas. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Port Arthur before moving to Bridge City to work for the city's Maintenance department. Joe was a Master Mason in the Bridge City Lodge #1345. He was a member of the VFW Post #5621 in Liberty and proudly served on the Honor Guard detail for funerals. Joe was known as a fine, upstanding man that would go out of his way to help anyone. He "never knew a stranger". He was always ready with a quick joke or a compliment. He loved to saltwater fish, and he spent his time out at Rollover Pass and McFaddin Beach whenever he could. He will be sorely missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and a sister, his wife Linda Mahon Broadway of Sabine Pass and his wife Erna Barnes Broadway of Port Neches. He is survived by his daughter, Josette Broadway Taylor and husband Michael of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, along with granddaughters Jenna, Tala, and Kayla Walston and one grandson, Logan Taylor, all of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Also surviving are his brothers Lewis Reckaway, and Billy Broadway of Southeast Texas and Jimmy Broadway of Southeast Louisiana. Stepchildren include Carmen Barnes and Kathy Walker of Port Neches, Shirley and Larry Guidry of Sour Lake and Travis Barnes of Rye, Texas, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many "adopted" nieces and nephews who simply knew him as "Uncle Joe". Special love and appreciation goes to his close friends E.C.and Helen Guidry of Sour Lake and J.B. O'Neal of Lumberton.
