Sybil Mallet

May 27, 1926 - August 31, 2011

Sybil LeBlanc Mallet, 85, of Port Arthur passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas after a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1926 to Percy and Aline Bordelon of Cottonport, Louisiana. Sybil graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1944 and still attended many of their class reunions. She worked in the canning plant at Texaco Island before becoming a mother and housewife. Being a breast cancer survivor of 33 years never slowed Sybil down, she continued to be involved in many activities as well as always being supportive in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Dancing was always a big part of Sybil's life, as a founding member of the LaClique Dance Club, square dancing with several local groups, teaching line dancing at the YMCA and dancing with the Golden Liners and the Belles and Beauxs line dance groups. She was an active member of the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans, a former member of the Krewe of Le Bon Temps and an active member of the Texaco Retiree Luncheon group. Sybil loved to bowl and enjoyed traveling to State tournaments with her team. She attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her first husband Berney J. LeBlanc. She is survived by her husband, Clell (C.J.) Mallet of Port Arthur, her daughters, Bonnie LeBlanc Boutte and husband Larry of Port Neches, Terri LeBlanc Ball and husband Steven of Sugar Land, Texas and son Randy LeBlanc and wife Caroline of Houston, Texas. Two grandchildren who were the love of her life, Allison Ball of Sugar Land and James LeBlanc of Houston. Step-son Rowan Mallet of LaBelle, Texas and step-daughters Shellie Mallet Jennings of Port Arthur and Pam Walker, deceased. Step grandchildren Brandon Mallet, Rowena McDonald, Tristan Mallet, Shaun Mallet and Brett Mallet. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Catholic Students Clerical Fund at 2529 Grand Blvd., Port Neches, Tx 77651 or the Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program, P.O.Box14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Sybil loved collecting Angels, from pins to figurines. The family is grateful that all her Angels were by her side the last few weeks. A special thanks to the staff at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and Gulf Health for all their help.
