Chereline Marie Dugas, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, one day before her 73rd birthday. Born on December 13, 1952, in Rayne, Louisiana, Chereline led a life filled with love, joy, and unwavering faith.
Chereline was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She often reflected on the significance of family and community, values that guided her every action. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, earning her a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.
She had a passion for gardening and spent countless hours planting flowers that brought beauty to her home and joy to those who visited. Chereline’s days were often brightened by playing bingo at the KC Hall in Port Neches, where she loved sharing laughter and memories with her friends.
Chereline is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Damien Bodin and his wife, Corinne; Angela Matte; Tonie Gallion and his wife, Mary; and Blake Bodin. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Bobby Bodin, whose support has been a source of comfort during this challenging time.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen Dugas Jr., whose memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved them both dearly. Chereline is also preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Joseph Cormier and Clophina Meche Cormier, and cherished sisters, Marcia Meche and Stephanie Bodin. They were an integral part of her life, guiding her with love and wisdom.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 West Parkway, Groves, Texas 77619, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Chereline’s final resting place will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas, where a graveside service will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Chereline’s legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the memories of those she touched. Her spirit will continue to bloom in the gardens she nurtured, in the laughter she shared, and in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her light will shine brightly in our memories for all time.
