Dorothy Jane Amy

Dorothy Amy, 93 years old and a beloved figure in the Nederland community for over seven decades, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in Beaumont, TX. Born on July 20, 1933, in Rayne, Louisiana, Dorothy lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that touched many hearts.

Dorothy's life was rich with faith, family, and cherished hobbies. A devout member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, she also dedicated her time to the Altar Society of St. Charles. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful garden, especially her beloved roses, and her kitchen was often filled with the aroma of delicious meals cooked for her family. She found joy in camping, sewing, and creating lasting memories with her family at Ivanhoe. For many years, Dorothy was a familiar and friendly face to students and staff alike, having retired from Nederland ISD as a cafeteria worker.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Julius Joseph Amy. She also joined her parents, Joseph and Delaide Faul, and her siblings, Audrey Biehle, Theresa Faul, Ethel Vidrine, Mary Priscilla Varnado, Melvin Faul, and Leroy Faul, in eternal rest.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving family. She is survived by her sons, Kerney Amy and his wife, Debbie of Groves, Pooch Amy and his wife, Mare' of Colleyville, and Tod Amy and his wife, Roxy of Nederland. She also leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Sterling of Port Neches. Dorothy was a proud grandmother to Larry and Amanda Sterling and their daughters, Mia and Maci; April and Payton Keith and their daughters, Grace, Emma, and Charlotte; Brandell and Chris Lindsay and their children, Quinn, Palmer, and Colden; Lexi Amy and her son, Beckett and daughter, Sutton; Zoee Amy; Scout Amy; and Echo Amy.

Dorothy's life will be celebrated with a visitation on July 29, 2026, from at 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary followed by a visitation at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 Parkway Street, Groves, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Street, Nederland, Texas followed by internment at Memory Gardens, Nederland, Texas.
