Erika Emma Menard, a cherished matriarch and beloved friend, departed this world on August 11, 2025, in Groves, Texas, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and culinary delight. Born on November 7, 1939, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Erika's journey through life was one marked by resilience, warmth, and a passionate embrace of those around her.
Throughout her life, Erika’s professional endeavors were grounded in food management retail at K-Mart, where she brought her keen sense of organization and love for service to the forefront. Her career was but a reflection of her character; she embraced each day with a spirit that uplifted her colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond the workplace, Erika cultivated a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests that spoke to her vibrant soul. She found solace and joy at the Ranch in Southwest Texas, where the natural beauty fostered a deep appreciation for the world around her. An avid birdwatcher, she took delight in observing the graceful avian creatures that visited her, finding peace in their presence. Her love for dance was matched only by her culinary prowess, as she poured her heart into cooking for family and friends, crafting delightful meals and baking cookies for the holidays which became cherished traditions in her family.
Erika is survived by her devoted life partner, Dennis Moon, who stood by her side through countless memories. Their bond was a testament to love that withstands the test of time. She also leaves behind her beloved children: Peggy Ann Menard Thibodeaux and her finance Randall Cross , James B. Menard and his wife Nancy, and Rosemarie Menard Wright and her husband Mark, who have all inherited her warmth and spirit. Erika's legacy further flourishes through her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her heart within them. As well as her siblings, Norbert Pressmann, Hermine Pressmann Huber, Elfriede Pressmann Blacketer, Marie-Luise Pressmann Harmon, and Monika Pressmann Charnley (Jim), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erika was born into a family that shaped her with love and strength. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil Pressmann and Anna Maria Weber Pressmann, alongside her brothers Alfred, Karl, Willi, and Hermann Pressmann, and her sisters Annemarie Pressmann Schilling and Rosemarie Pressmann Teston. Their memories will be held sacred in the hearts of those who knew her, as they echoed through the stories and values she instilled in her family.
A visitation to celebrate Erika’s life will be held on August 18, 2025, at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves, Texas, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service that will commence at 2:00 PM.
