Hearty Louis Latiolais, a cherished member of the community, was born on May 17, 1931, in Church Point, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Port Neches, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Hearty dedicated much of his career to Port Arthur Stevedores, working under employer Tom Flanagan, in Port Arthur. His commitment to his work exemplified his strong work ethic and determination. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he also served his country with honor as a member of the Air Force and later as a Long Shoreman, reflecting his unwavering dedication and patriotism.
Hearty had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed cooking, often providing meals at the American Legion and for family gatherings, showcasing his love for bringing people together. His passions extended to outdoor activities, including deer hunting and fishing, both onshore and offshore, where he found much joy and peace.
Hearty is survived by his loving daughter, Diane Boyd, and her husband Kevin of Port Neches; his son, David Latiolais, and his wife Pam from Cleveland; as well as his beloved grandchildren Trent and his wife Jennifer, Taylor, Trevor and fiancée Carli, Tucker, Tristian, Taryn. His family also includes his cherished great-grandchildren Collin, Aiden, Jackson, Branick, Tillie, Isaac, Moriah, and Nora Grace. He is further survived by his brother, Junior Latiolais of Church Point, Louisiana.
Hearty will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Amy Latiolais; his wife, Virginia Latiolais; and his brothers Calbert, Aaron, J. Roy, and Ray.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hearty's life during a visitation on June 26, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors, located at 5200 W. Parkway in Groves, Texas. A Rosary will be held at 1:30 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest during the interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, beginning at 3:00 PM.
Hearty Louis Latiolais will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the indelible mark he left on the lives he's touched.
