Howard Lyssy, Born July 16, 1930, passed away at Pine Ridge Health Care in Livingston Tx. August 25, 2018 after his battle with cryptogenic Cirrhosis of the liver. He is resting with his Saviour and with his devoted wife, Mary K. Lyssy who preceded him in 2012.
Howard was born in Port Arthur, TX to Ben and Anola Lyssy. He is survived by his only son, Michael Evan Lyssy and his wife Denise Ferrell Lyssy. Howard lived in Groves TX but was able to spend his last days living with Michael and Denise in Livingston, TX before he had to move into Pine Ridge Health Care. His sister, Gladys Garrett, age 90, also survives him in San Antonio, TX. He had 6 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
Howard was one of the founding members of the Port Arthur Boat Club, serving as Commodore, Secretary, and Treasurer. He was also a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church often serving as a lector there.
He was employed by Gulf Oil Corp for over 30 years before retiring to a life of RVing with Mary and wood working in his home.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral home in Grove, with a vigil service at 6 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Kevin Badeaux serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Howard, Michael and Denise are indebted and thankful for the loving care given by Pine Ridge Health Care and Kindred Hospice, including Denise Nelsch, Jessica and Rachel who provided for his comfort.
