Obituary

Johnny Ray Mendoza, 55, of Groves passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

He was born on August 27, 1965 in Port Arthur, Texas to his parents, Herman Hayes Mendoza, Sr. and Charlen Marie Trotei Mendoza. Johnny was a lifelong resident of the Groves area. He worked as a self-employed outboard mechanic for numerous years.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Charlen Mendoza of Groves; his brothers, Jay Mendoza and his wife, Kaye of Port Arthur, Gary Mendoza and his wife, Darla of Montgomery, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation will be on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 4:30 PM till 7:00 PM with a Memorial Service to be at 5:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Just now learned of Johnny's passing in 2021. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Johnny was a good friend of mine, always doing maintenance and repairs on my (numerous) boats for over 20 years. He always visited with me at my place of business. He was the kind of guy you just knew to trust. He was always honest with me, and I will always remember him, and miss him. He left us much too soon, but he is with our Lord our Savior.
