Joyce Mayfield lived her 75 years with a giving heart, a strong spirit, and a love that touched countless lives. Born January 30, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas, Joyce remained deeply rooted in the community where she was raised and where she passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025.
Joyce worked for many years at Huntsman Credit Union and then Neches Federal Credit Union, where members trusted and cared for her like family. After retirement, she poured her time and energy into the role she loved most — being “Gaga” to her grandsons. She delighted in caring for Dillan and Caleb, and her home was always a place of comfort, good cooking, and support for her friends and neighbors. Joyce was known for her kindness, her willingness to help those in need, and the way she made people feel cared for.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Daniels; her grandsons, Dillan and Caleb Daniels; their father, Albert Daniels; and her siblings, Sharon Flin, Norma Tatmon, and John Simon. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who love her dearly. She joins in rest her parents, Edward Mayfield Sr. and Lydia Berotte-Mayfield; Her longtime companion, Michael Kelly, and her siblings Edward Mayfield Jr., Lawrence Simon Jr., Fred Simon Sr., James Simon, and Anne Marie Allen.
In honor of Joyce’s remarkable life, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Melancon Livingston Funeral Home 1605 Ave H Nederland, Texas, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Joyce will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now resting in eternal peace, her beautiful spirit carried forward by all who were blessed to know and love her. To have been touched by her warmth, or to have called her a friend, was truly a blessing- and those fortunate enough to have shared in her life will carry her spirit with them always.
