Linda Mary Frederick, lovingly known to all as "Momma Linda," departed this world on August 3, 2025, at her home in Nome, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on January 27, 1942, in Hotel Dieu Beaumont, Linda lived a life that was rich in love, compassion, and unwavering support for those around her.
A graduate of South Park High School, Linda became a successful business owner who dedicated herself to mentoring countless individuals throughout her life. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart earned her the title "Momma Linda," reflecting the love and warmth she extended to all who crossed her path. Her striking capacity for forgiveness and her ability to embrace people despite their flaws were hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Linda's faith was also a guiding force in her life. As a devout Catholic, she demonstrated a strong commitment to her beliefs, practicing a lifestyle of kindness and charity that resonated deeply within her community. She found the greatest joy in helping others, ensuring that every child—big and small—was treated to Easter baskets and Christmas presents. In addition to her children, Linda's heart swelled with pride for the many bonus children she cherished as her own, including Joey Gonzalez of Houston, Trisha Barron of Vidor, and Brandi Wright and her husband Curtis of Vidor, as well as Joe Frederick of Fort Myers, Florida. With 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Linda's legacy of love and family will continue through the generations she adored.
Linda's siblings, who shared lifelong bonds with her, include her sister Karen McKinney of Arizona, brothers Richard Kountze, Tim Hidalgo of China, Texas, and Ray Hidalgo and his wife Judy. Each will hold onto their cherished memories of Linda with tenderness.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Joe, parents Walter P. and Marjorie Hidalgo, brother Tommie Hidalgo, and son Troy, along with bonus daughters Kristi Melancon and Danya Ihles.
