Lucy Sclerandi, a cherished resident of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on September 7, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on August 18, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, Lucy lived a life rooted in kindness, faith, and selfless devotion to those she loved.
A devout Catholic, Lucy’s faith was the foundation of her life. She approached each day with grace, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her gentle strength and steadfast spirit were a guiding light to all who knew her.
Lucy was a talented beautician by trade and a proud “domestic engineer” by heart. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and at home. Above all, Lucy’s greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband and best friend of 53 years, Glenn, shared with her an unwavering bond. They spent nearly every waking moment together, making friends wherever they went and finding joy in life’s simplest moments. Their unconditional love was a rare and beautiful example—something to be admired and aspired to. Together, they raised five children and played pivotal roles in the upbringing of their grandchildren, creating a strong and loving foundation that continues to guide the family today.
Lucy took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, nurturing each of them with unconditional love and tireless support.
An extraordinary cook, Lucy was renowned for her southern-style Cajun and Italian meals—each one crafted with care and served with love. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and her recipes, often stored only in memory, became the centerpiece of family gatherings. She especially loved preparing meals during the holidays, creating cherished traditions and memories her family will hold close forever.
Lucy’s legacy of generosity, love, and faith lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Glenn Sclerandi; her daughters, Ingrid Knowles and her husband Nathen, Stephanie Sclerandi, and Angie Briggs; her sons, Glenn Sclerandi Jr. and Derek Sclerandi and his wife Kasey; her grandchildren, Alisa Sessions and her husband Cory, Chelsea Sclerandi, Marissa Briggs, Sophia Knowles, and Lee Sclerandi; and her brother, Danny Duhon.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Duhon and Theresa Molbert Duhon.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now resting in eternal peace, her beautiful spirit carried forward by all who were blessed to know and love her.
