Myrtle A. Loyacano, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in her hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. Born on November 27, 1931, in Port Arthur, Myrtle lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to her family and church, a passion for nurturing those she loved, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her.
Myrtle’s early years were shaped by the loving guidance of her parents, Whitney Meyer and Odette Trimble Meyer. Though her brother, Raymond Meyer, preceded her in death, Myrtle remained surrounded by the enduring bonds of family throughout her life. She found true companionship in her beloved husband, Phillip Loyacano, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage—a testament to love, faith, and steadfast partnership.
As a lifelong member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Myrtle found strength and purpose in her faith. She served faithfully in the Altar Society and fulfilled the sacred role of Eucharistic Minister, contributing generously to the spiritual life of her parish community. Her deep commitment to the church was a cornerstone of her identity and a source of comfort throughout her years.
Myrtle's greatest joy came from her family, for whom she poured out her heart and soul. Her talents extended into the kitchen, where she was known for her love of cooking for everyone, creating meals that brought family and friends together in fellowship and warmth. She was also an avid gardener who took great pride and pleasure in tending her flower gardens, filling her home with natural beauty and serenity. Among her treasured memories were times spent camping, embracing nature and the simple delights it offered.
Myrtle’s family legacy lives on through her children: Cindy Stamps and her husband, Ricky; Sandra Loyacano; Bubba Loyacano; Mark Loyacano and his wife, Laurie; and Joe Loyacano and his wife, Jamie. She was the proud grandmother of Chris Stamps and his wife, Kayla; Dan Stamps; Tim Stamps; Abbey Loyacano; and Dylan Teran. Her joy extended into the next generation with her beloved great-grandchild, Raylan Stamps, whom she adored immensely.
A visitation and rosary will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 West Parkway, Groves, Texas 77619, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the next day on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 3706 Woodrow Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. Following Mass, Myrtle will be laid to eternal rest at Greenlawn Memorial park in Groves, Texas.
Myrtle Ann Loyacano’s life was a testament to the virtues of love, faith, and dedication. She will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit and her radiant home filled with flowers and laughter but also for the profound love she gave to her family and church. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
