Norman Reed Anders, beloved educator and cherished family member, began his journey on January 15, 1938, in Abilene, Texas. He left us peacefully on August 29, 1925, in Port Arthur, Texas. With a lifelong passion for teaching, Norman made significant contributions as a schoolteacher in California and later as a substitute teacher in Texas. His dedication to education and the shaping of young minds was evident in the countless lives he influenced throughout his career.
Norman earned a master’s degree in education, reflecting his commitment to personal growth and the importance of knowledge. His service in the National Guard showcased his sense of duty and resilience, adding another chapter of honor to his life. Among his notable interests, Norman found joy in gambling and frequently engaged in betting on horse races, a pastime that brought him excitement and camaraderie.
Norman's family legacy includes his beloved daughter Linna Anders, as well as his dear nephews Alan Anders and Ronnie Anders. He took great pride in his role as a great-uncle to Karrie Faith Anders and Hallie Anders, nurturing relationships that carried forward his love and warmth.
He is preceded in death by his father, Whitley Anders, and mother, Pauline Layday Anders; his brother, Eddie Anders, and sister-in-law, Walterine Anders, who will forever hold a place in his memory.
The celebration of Norman Reed Anders' life will take place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home 5601 39th St. Groves, Texas, on September 4, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. All are invited to join in honoring a man whose impact on education and family remains timeless. Burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
