Oh goodness….I had no idea! Phala has been on my mind lately…something was telling to look her up and call…it was going to be a happy call! Phala worked for me in Groves for several years and I grew to love her like an aunt. She was my protector, my friend, my advisor. Phala, my dear, I’m so sorry I didn’t know this earlier..l.would have called much sooner! May you rest in God’s arms and smile, sing, and praise forever. God Bless You!

OMG. I've been calling the last number that I had for Phala to no avail. It's coming upon her birthday so I decided to google her. To my surprise this obituary came up and totally wiped me out. Phala was my GOOD friend. I loved her dearly and will miss her. It never occurred to me that she passed away and on my birthday, August 6th. We worked together at Texas Ins. Agency/T E Moor & Co. Phala, I'm so very sorry that you're gone, I love you. Rest in peace my friend. G Jean Gunner

I am so sad to hear that Phala passed away.  She and I worked together at Crouch Insurance many years ago.  She was a sweet lady and I have fond memories of the time we spent together.  Prayers for her loved ones...

I have known Phala longer than most who "claim" to be her family. Roughly 45 years. My first memory of her is her having me sing at 3 years old with her at a nursing home. There were countless hours at her home with her teaching my mom piano and Sis. Currie cracking us up. Later, she was my first piano teacher and then she went on to play the wedding march in my wedding. So much love and so many years of getting birthday cards every year with a "little spnething" in them. She went on to be "Aunt Phala" to my girls who loved her as much as I did. She loved to hear them sing and for Victoria to play the piano for her. Then, in her last years, she came to stay with my parents. It was a joy to see the love between her and my mom. Such care and compassion was evident every day when i talked on the phone and facetimed them. Every doctors appointment and every time mother had to get up in the middle of the night was done with love. I saw for myself many times in person how loved and cared for she was in my parents' home! Heaven has gained a wonderful musician and singer, and someone to keep the angels straight and on key! Until we meet again Phala!

What can I say but that it was an HONOR to have Phala live with us over 18 months. It was no trouble because she is my sister. So many good times and sad times but we were together. God allowed me to be her caregiver and I gave it my best as well as be a caregiver for my husband. Now, the angels are not her caregiver but her friends! Enjoy heaven Phala, you have lived your life for this moment! Will love you for always.

MY foundest memories of our youth and a life time of being friends will stay with me for ever. Our days of being roomates and visiting friends are the best. Your piano playing skills were outstanding ... and you made many people happy with your love of sharing your friendship. Your family members are all very fine christian people and will remember them as well. Rest in peace Phala Curry Barnhill.

So many things flood through our minds when thinking of Sis Phala.  First, she was a piano teacher extraordinaire.  (She could tell you what key you were in without even being close to the piano.). If I could only be half the musician she was....You could not fool her as not much got by her.  She was sharp as a tack and had a memory like no other.  And to top it off, when we dated she often would go with us.  Such fun times and fond memories we will hold dear.    Love you much!

God rest her precious soul. Phala was a delightful classmate from junior days through graduation at PNG HighSchool. A fine Christian woman and friend. Heaven is rejoicing at her arrival.  Please keep your precious memories close to your hearts, and may Jesus reign in your hearts as He did in Phala’s.  With sadness and live, Dianne Thompson Hollier
