Jerry Long, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Brookeland, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 4, 1940, in Many, Louisiana, Jerry lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Jerry graduated from Port Neches Groves High School and after serving honorably in the United States Army, he embarked on a rewarding career as a waste-water treatment operator at Neches Butane. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his family. Jerry loved the outdoors, and he embraced his passions for gardening, fishing, horseback riding, and coin collecting with enthusiasm and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Milda Long. Jerry is also survived by his daughter, Cindy Cormier, and her husband, Ronnie; his son, Jerry “ToTo” Long, and his wife, Stacy; and his stepsons, Andy Miguez and his companion, Amy Orris, and Gary Miguez and his wife, Sabrina. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Dianne White and the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Chantelle, Hailey, Jerrad, Jolea, Layne, Kayden and Georgia, and seven great-grandchildren. Jerry's legacy will continue to thrive through the love and memories shared with his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy Frank Long and Verline Hardin Long, as well as four brothers: Royce Long, Benny Long, Robert Long, and Kenneth Long.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home located at 5200 West Parkway Street in Groves, Texas with Military Honors starting at 2:15 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to share in the celebration of Jerry's remarkable life.
Jerry Long will be profoundly missed. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and the love he so freely gave will remain a guiding force, lighting the way for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Jerry Long.
